Visité por primera vez La Hacienda Kankirixche en septiembre de 2011, entonces estaba siendo reconstruida y rescatada literalmente de la selva que la cubría. Las paredes derruidas y los techos caídos de la casa principal dejaban sentir los cientos de años de antigüedad encarcelados en ese lugar, esperando por alguien que contara lo que atreves de sus puertas dejaron pasar.
De inmediato mi mente comenzó a imaginar todas las historias, anécdotas y tradiciones que los indígenas Mayas y los hacendados entretejieron para poder darle personalidad única a la hacienda.
Nunca pensé que casi un año después me viera involucrado directamente en desentrañar la historia de un lugar tan enigmático, que indudablemente está lleno de cultura maya y de naturaleza que aun habita de manera silvestre y en algunos casos en un medio ambiente aun virgen.
Jaime Raymundo Concha Echazarreta es el actual dueño de La Hacienda Kankirixche, se ha dado a la tarea de reconstruir y recobrar la belleza arquitectónica de la misma. El proyecto comenzó a mediados del 2011 y después de un año de duro trabajo la Casa principal quedo terminada.
El Capitán Jaime Concha Escobedo, adquirió la Hacienda Kankirixche en el año 1973, el cual la uso para actividades ganaderas y el cultivo del henequén como casi todas las haciendas al norte del estado de Yucatán. A la muerte del Capitán Concha en 2005, la heredo a su hijo Jaime Raymundo Concha Echazarreta.
EL señor Quintín Canto Lara fue dueño de la hacienda por 18 años, dedicando sus tierras a la producción de henequén. Tomó posesión de la misma en el año de 1955 por herencia de Don Marcial Echánove Delgado.
A principios de los 1900´s la hacienda perteneció al autor de la tesis llamada “Subrogación”, el Abogado en Jurisprudencia Marcial Echánove Delgado, de igual manera, su esposa Narcisa Trujillo de Echánove, fue una escritora que a mediados de 1950´s, aportó al acervo del estado de Yucatán el libro titulado “Leyendas de Yucatán”, el cual fue incluido en la compilación de la Enciclopedia Yucatanense.
“Leyendas de Yucatán”, fue escrito precisamente con Hacienda Kankirixche en mente, pues la autora describe y comenta en la mayor parte de su libro sus observaciones, enseñanzas y sentimientos de cuando vivió por tres años en su Hacienda Kankirixche.
Esto, creo yo es solo el comienzo de una aventura por la historia de Yucatán y de la propia hacienda, es fascinante encontrar fotos, documentos, cartas, escritos y hasta títulos de propiedad antiguos que van atando los cabos del legado de las personas que una vez caminaron por los mismos lugares que nosotros.

I visited La Hacienda Kankirixche for the first time in September 2011, when it was being rebuilt and literally rescued from the jungle that covered it. The crumbling walls and ceilings of the main house let you felt the hundreds of years of history imprisoned there waiting for someone to tell what passed through those old doors.
Immediately my mind began to imagine all the stories, anecdotes and traditions that the Mayan Indigenous and landowners platted in the ground, giving it a unique personality to the hacienda.
I never thought that a year later I would see myself directly involved in unraveling the history of this mysterious place, which undoubtedly is full of Mayan culture and nature that still lives in the wild and in some cases even In a pristine environment.
Raymundo Jaime Concha Echazarreta is the current owner of Hacienda Kankirixche, he made the decision of rebuilt and recover the architectural beauty of it. The project began in mid-2011 and after a year of hard work the main house is finished.
Captain Jaime Concha Escobedo acquired the Hacienda Kankirixche in 1973 using it for livestock and cultivation of henequen as most haciendas in the north of the state of Yucatan. Upon Captain Concha´s death in 2005, his son Raymundo Jaime Concha Echazarreta inherited it.
Mr. Quentin Lara Canto owned the Hacienda for 18 years, dedicating its land to the production of sisal. He took possession of it in 1955 as a heritage of Don Marcial Echánove Delgado.
In the early 1900’s the Hacianda belonged to the author of the thesis called “Subrogation”, the Attorney at Law Marcial Echánove Delgado, similarly, his wife Narcissa Echánove Trujillo, was a writer who in the mid-1950’s contributed to the state of Yucatan cultural heritage with her book called Legends of Yucatan, which was included in the compilation of the Encyclopedia Yucatanense.
“Legends of Yucatan” was written precisely with Hacienda Kankirixche in mind, as the author describes and comments in her book her observations, teachings and feelings when she lived for three years in her Hacienda Kankirixche.
This, I believe is just the beginning of an adventure through the history of Yucatan and the Hacienda itself. It is fascinating to find photos, documents, letters, writings and even old titles that are part of the legacy of people that once walked the same places we do now.
